Rhythm Tengoku games feel great to play, but have lost a lot of their visual charm in the translation to the 3DS. I think part of why this game feels odd to play through as intended is because of how each of the older games' additions are treated. After that, it becomes standard Rhythm Heaven fare- 4 games all culminating in a more difficult Remix. The first few sets of levels have no Remixes and are laughably easy to Perfect on a first attempt.
The story, while pace-breaking, is fun and sentimental, stringing together the games in a way no Rhythm Heaven title has done before, but the difficulty is weird. Not only are the old games just as good (barring some disappointing visual changes) as they were originally, there is a small set of high quality new games to enjoy! The pacing is by far the worst part- a barebones story, progression gated by getting a high score in the endless games, and a post-game ruled by endless grinding for currency to unlock new content. 7h PlayedA fantastic compilation of past Rhythm Heaven titles that improves upon the visuals of the older games and standardizes the gameplay to two simple buttons.
